百分之 + 数
HSK 6- Measure words
Structure (结构 jiégòu)
Meaning (意思 yìsi)
The structure 百分之 is used to express percentages, equivalent to the % symbol in Vietnamese.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
百分之 (bǎifēnzhī) literally means "parts in one hundred." To say "X percent," use the structure 百分之 + X. For example, 百分之十 (bǎifēnzhī shí) means 10%.
An important note: the order is the reverse of English — while we say "10 percent," Chinese says "percent 10." Just remember that 百分之 always comes before the number.
