Meaning (意思 yìsi)
The particle 呢 is used to ask a question back in return (a reciprocal question), or to ask about the location of a person/thing.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
The interrogative particle 呢 (ne) is commonly used in two main cases:
- Asking back: When someone asks you a question, you can use
呢to ask them the same thing in return. For example, after answering "I am Vietnamese," you can ask你呢?(And what about you?). - Asking about location or situation: When you cannot find someone or something, you can use
呢to ask. For example:我的手机呢?(Where is my phone?).

- 我很好，你呢？Wǒ hěn hǎo, nǐ ne?
I'm doing well, how about you?
- 我是越南人，你呢？Wǒ shì Yuènán rén, nǐ ne?
