Meaning (意思 yìsi)

The particle 呢 is used to ask a question back in return (a reciprocal question), or to ask about the location of a person/thing.

Explanation (解释 jiěshì)

The interrogative particle (ne) is commonly used in two main cases:

  1. Asking back: When someone asks you a question, you can use to ask them the same thing in return. For example, after answering "I am Vietnamese," you can ask 你呢? (And what about you?).
  2. Asking about location or situation: When you cannot find someone or something, you can use to ask. For example: 我的手机呢? (Where is my phone?).

  2. 我是越南人,你呢?
    shì Yuènán rén, ne?
