不必 is used to express that a certain action is unnecessary or not required.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
The adverb 不必 (búbì) means "need not" or "unnecessary." It is used to advise someone that an action is not required or is superfluous. Compared to 不用, 不必 carries a slightly more formal tone and is often used in written language or situations requiring politeness, emphasizing that something truly does not need to be done.

- 这件事很简单，你不必担心。繁: 這件事很簡單，你不必擔心。Zhè jiàn shì hěn jiǎndān, nǐ búbì dānxīn.
This matter is very simple, you don't need to worry.
- 时间还早，你不必着急。繁: 時間還早，你不必著急。Shíjiān hái zǎo, nǐ búbì zhāojí.
It's still early, you don't need to rush.

Common mistakes
- Wrong:你不要送我了。Correct:你不必送我了。
不要 means "don't" and expresses prohibition; 不必 means "don't need to" and indicates lack of necessity, which is milder and more polite.
- Wrong:昨天我不必上班。Correct:我昨天本不必上班。
不必 is used for the present/future. For the past, 本不必 (originally unnecessary) can be used to express something that didn't need to happen.
