Meaning (意思 yìsi)
Used to introduce an unexpected result that is contrary to what was just mentioned immediately before.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
The phrase 尽管如此 (jǐnguǎn rúcǐ) means "even so" or "nevertheless." It typically appears at the beginning of a second clause to introduce a fact or action that contrasts with or is unexpected given what was stated in the preceding clause. This phrase carries a formal register, emphasizing that despite the situation described, the subsequent event still occurs.

- 外面雨下得很大。尽管如此，他还是出门了。繁: 外面雨下得很大。儘管如此，他還是出門了。Wàimiàn yǔ xià de hěn dà. Jǐnguǎn rúcǐ, tā háishì chūmén le.

Common mistakes
- Wrong:他尽管如此很累，但是还工作。Correct:他很累。尽管如此，他还是继续工作。
尽管如此 is an independent phrase that connects two sentences and is not used within the 虽然...但是... structure.
- Wrong:他还是出门了，尽管如此。Correct:外面雨很大。尽管如此，他还是出门了。
尽管如此 must stand at the beginning of the second clause to introduce contrast; it cannot be placed at the end of the sentence.
