  • Wrong:我罢了是开个玩笑。

    罢了 is a modal particle that must always stand at the end of a sentence and cannot stand in the middle of a sentence.

  • Wrong:他很高罢了。
    Correct:他只是比较高罢了。

    罢了 is used to downplay or soften a statement and should not be used with an obvious fact; adding 比较 (relatively) will make the sentence sound more natural.
