导致
HSK 6- Causative
Structure (结构 jiégòu)
Meaning (意思 yìsi)
The verb 导致 is used to indicate a cause that leads to a bad or undesirable result.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
导致 (dǎozhì) means "to lead to" or "to cause." The most important point to remember is that it is almost always used to indicate a negative or undesirable outcome.
You would not say 努力导致成功 (hard work leads to success), but rather 粗心导致失败 (carelessness leads to failure). It emphasizes a direct cause-and-effect relationship in which the cause is the primary agent responsible for a bad result.
