Common mistakes
- Wrong:他吃饭同时看电视。Correct:他一边吃饭一边看电视。
With two simple, ordinary actions like eating and watching, using `一边…一边…` is more natural. `…的同时` is typically more formal.
- Wrong:我们享受生活的同时，要保护环境。Correct:我们享受生活的同时，也要保护环境。
The second clause often contains adverbs such as 也 or 还 to emphasize simultaneity or to supplement the meaning.
