The structure 看上去 is used to make judgments or impressions based on outward appearance, meaning "looks like" or "seems."
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
看上去 (kànshangqu) means "looks like" or "appears to be." You use this structure when you want to make an observation or judgment about a person, object, or situation based on what you see.
It is very similar to 看起来 (kànqilai) and the two can be used interchangeably in most cases. 看上去 is typically followed by an adjective or a short descriptive phrase.
