The structure (在)…上 is used to indicate a specific scope, aspect, or field of a matter.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
The structure (在)...上 is used to frame a topic, emphasizing that you are talking about a specific aspect or field, similar to "in terms of..." or "in the area of..." in English. The noun placed before 上 is typically an abstract noun such as work, study, or personality.
The 在 at the beginning can be omitted in many cases, especially in spoken language.

This structure is not used for specific, momentary actions like "eating rice." Use time-marking structures like `的时候` instead.
