The structure (在)…中 is used to indicate a scope, process, or abstract context, carrying the meaning of "in" or "among/amid".
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
The structure (在)…中 is used to express a scope, process, or condition, equivalent to "in…" or "amid…". Compared to 里, 中 tends to carry a more formal tone and is often used with abstract nouns such as 生活 (life), 学习 (study), and 工作 (work).
The 在 at the beginning can often be omitted, especially when the noun phrase functions as the subject.

Common mistakes
- Wrong:我在房间中看书。Correct:我在房间里看书。
For concrete physical spaces like 'room', 里 is more natural; 中 is typically used for abstract scopes or literary contexts.
- Wrong:在书中有答案。Correct:书中有答案。
When a noun serving as the subject comes at the beginning, '在' is often omitted to make the sentence more concise and natural.
