Structure (结构 jiégòu)

Used to emphasize that a positive outcome occurs thanks to the help or contribution of someone or something.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
The structure 多亏…才… (duōkuī...cái...) is used to express gratitude. 多亏 precedes the person or thing that provided help, while 才 precedes the positive outcome achieved thanks to that help. This structure emphasizes that without such help, the positive result would not have occurred. It carries the meaning of "it was thanks to… that…" or "fortunately, because of… it was possible to…".

Common mistakes
- Wrong:多亏你帮忙，我能完成作业。Correct:多亏你帮忙，我才能完成作业。
The adverb 才 is essential and is used to emphasize that the result could only be achieved through that specific help.
- Wrong:多亏你，我才迟到了。Correct:都怪你，我才迟到了。
多亏 is only used for positive outcomes and carries a sense of gratitude, while 都怪 is used for negative outcomes to express blame.
