Explanation (解释 jiěshì)

哪儿 (nǎr) is the Chinese word for "where?" It is an interrogative pronoun used to ask about a place or location. It can be placed at the end of a sentence after a verb, or after a preposition such as 在.

In southern China or in more formal written language, 哪里 (nǎlǐ) is also commonly used in place of 哪儿, with exactly the same meaning.
