多少 is used to ask "how many/how much" about quantity, typically for numbers greater than 10 or when the quantity is unknown.
Explanation (解释 jiěshì)
多少 (duōshao) means "how many/how much" and is used to ask about quantity. Unlike 几 (jǐ), which is typically used for small numbers (under 10), 多少 can be used for any quantity, large or small.
One notable feature is that after 多少, you can omit the measure word and the sentence remains correct. For example, you can ask 多少学生 (how many students) instead of 多少个学生.
